Request it from your own settings

Use the export as evidence to examine. An empty folder is not a clean bill of health.

On desktop or browser, open User Settings → Data & Privacy → Request your data. Choose the data you want and submit the request. On mobile, open Settings → Data & Privacy and follow the data-request option.

Discord says preparation can take up to 30 days. The email address linked when you request it receives the download link; a later email change does not redirect delivery. Disabling or deleting the account before delivery cancels the request. A verified email is required.

Look at the records together

The download is a ZIP containing readable JSON files. Discord describes account details, settings, connections, sessions and other records. The messages folder contains messages you sent, with timestamps and channel context.

Our review suggestion: begin with account details, then inspect sessions and connections, then the message records. Note what you can explain and what needs further investigation. Keep the package private; it may contain sensitive personal data.

Know what an export cannot settle

Manually deleted messages are excluded from the package. The sent-message records are not a complete copy of every conversation, so absence of a message is not proof that an interaction never happened.

Our interpretation: an export can help you investigate activity, but it cannot certify an account’s safety or resolve ownership by itself. Use the records alongside current account settings and the official support process when something is disputed.
